Mines are an integral part of Tank Force. The higher the level tank you have, the more you are likely to come into contact with players who use them.
Once the Clan has 'Explored' (researched) them, Clan members can apply them to a tank's equipment. In gameplay they cost 30-60 gold per tank to use, once triggered on the tank, you can use them as many times for free. Hence why when you see one, you are likely to see many. It's in your interest to use the investment to its fullest potential. They inflict 50% of the total armour of the laying tank, as damage on the receiving tank. This makes them an effective tool in destroying light tanks. With one hit of a mine, a player can lose a tank.
Identification
Mines are two colours, depending on whether your enemy or teammate has laid it. Teammate mines are often the easiest to see, they are a bright light blue.
Enemy mines are a tad more tricky to spot as they are camouflaged with a green/brown/grey tinge.
Benefit
- Mines provide kills throughout the map, without you having to patrol that zone
- They provide kills when all other ammo has depleted
- They continue to provide kills once your tank/s have been destroyed (observer mode)
- It's a fast track way of removing bots from the game, leaving real players
- If multiple players are in the vicinity of a mine at the same time, it can lead to multiple deaths from the same mine.
Strategy
These are some of the common strategies outplayed with mines:
Protective barrier
Blind corners
Choosing to lay a mine where it is slightly obscured and therefore enemy tanks are not likely to see the mine until it is too late. For example next to an object, around a corner, in a visually busy part of the map.
Popular spots
Mines being laid at choke points, where players commonly are channelled because of the built environment. For example; entrances to towns, bridges, spawning sites etc.
Avoidance
Enemy mines provide a great variable challenge to the game. An opportunity to find creative solutions to an enemy. When attempting to pass enemy mines, give at least a tanks length distance. Assuming they are in front of you, on a minority of occasions you may successfully avoid damage, by slamming on reverse.
Here is an example of a game where mines have been laid prolifically
